My 3D worlds are coming along nicely for my Graphic novel. All created in Unity, all assets like rocks, vegetation, objects created in Maya. All textures created in Photoshop + Bitmap2Material + ZBrush. The Rock Structure are created in Maya and ZBrush. I have a total of 20 and 4 have been fully textured, working on the others. This planet is going to be used for creating concept art for my panels and line art when they are complete. I'm still working on this planet. I have 14 more rock structures to add along with plants and water areas. This terrain is 25kx25k right now, might get better.
In the process of trying to not use a lot of terrain textures I removed two and undated my terrain tiles with 4 now. Now I only diffuse and a normal map. Now later down the line I will be adding more. I'm amazed how good it looks just using a few textures. I added water to the area and finished 15 rocks to add to the areas. I'm currently working on new vegetation that will be unique to this planet.
Red Planet water area
30 rock structures complete.
Imported them all to Unity with lods, material setup, converted to prefabs.
Creating vegetation for the terrain.
Here is an example of how fast I can create different versions of the same tree. Very flexible system.
